Dog Bather

Bark University is seeking individuals with at least 1 year experience that are hard-working, knowledgeable, compassionate, patient and detail-oriented people to work in our grooming salon. A bather is responsible for assisting the Groomer with their craft, nail trimming, ear cleaning, bathing and drying dogs scheduled for salon services, and help maintain a clean work space.

Availability: Bark University, INC is a boarding, daycare, training, and grooming facility that is open 7 days a week and all major holidays. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Cleaning and sanitizing crates, bathing area, floors, drying and grooming tables, and other areas
• Monitoring dogs in the grooming kennel for changes in condition, and allowing them time to relieve themselves
• Washing, rinsing and drying dogs.
• Helping to maintain the grooming schedules
• Organizing grooming supplies and equipment
• Using safe and effective handling techniques and practices to assist the groomer in the salon
• Recognizing animal behaviors and reacting to early signs of agitation, fear, anxiety, pain, and illness.
• Recognizing symptoms of illnesses that are commutable to others—fleas, ticks, rashes, hives, coughing, etc.—and relaying appropriate information to management.

Requirements:

• High school Diploma/GED or equivalent degree
• Minimum age 18 years
• 1-2 years pet care experience
• Preferred 1-2 years bather experience
