Position Summary:
The Legal Bookkeeper will be an integral team member of the Accounting Department with various tasks related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, client billing, performing data entry, and assisting with other bookkeeping related duties. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, tech-savvy, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deposit checks received to appropriate bank account and enter client payments in accounting software
- Review firm related invoices and enter payable in accounting software and print checks, have checks signed, scan copies, give checks to Office Services for mailing
- Review client related invoices, obtain approval for payment, and enter payable in accounting software, bill expenses to client, and print checks, have checks signed, scan copies, give checks to Office Services for mailing
- Receive credit card receipts and enter in accounts payable and bill to client
- Process positive pay export from accounting software and import into bank, approve/reject positive pays on bank site
- Prepare wire and ACH payments as requested
- Assist with client billing and/or run transaction reports as requested.
- Other bookkeeping related duties, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in bookkeeping or billing, preferably in a legal or professional services setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and prior use of an accounting software
- Familiarity with online billing platforms used by law firms is a plus
- Knowledge of Tabs3 is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- High degree of discretion and professionalism
