Job Summary
North Andover Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, creative, and skilled Group Therapist (W-2 Per Diem) with an interest in developing and facilitating specialty therapeutic groups within our growing behavioral health practice.

We are particularly interested in clinicians who are passionate about developing groups focused on one or more of the following areas:

  • ADHD — executive functioning, emotional regulation, skills development, and support

  • Autism Spectrum — social connection, emotional regulation, life skills, and neurodiversity-affirming support

  • Divorce & Relationship Transitions — adjustment, coping, identity, co-parenting, and emotional support

  • Women's Mental Health — including perinatal/postpartum mental health, perimenopause, menopause, and related life transitions

The Group Therapist will have the opportunity to help develop, structure, and lead evidence-based group programming based on their clinical interests and areas of expertise. Responsibilities may include identifying appropriate group populations, collaborating on program development, establishing group curricula and goals, facilitating sessions, and supporting participants in building practical skills, resilience, connection, and improved emotional well-being.

While clinical quality, structure, and consistency are important, we encourage creativity and clinician autonomy in the development of group programming. We are looking for someone excited about bringing ideas to the practice and helping us expand meaningful group services in response to the needs of our patient population and community.

The ideal candidate is a licensed mental health professional with strong clinical and interpersonal skills, an interest or experience in group therapy, and a passion for developing engaging, supportive, and clinically meaningful programs. Experience or specialized training in ADHD, autism, divorce/relationship transitions, or women's mental health is especially valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and facilitate group therapy sessions using evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, psychoeducation, skills groups, etc.).
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging group environment that encourages participation and growth.
  • Adapt and individualize group content creatively to meet the unique needs of participants.
  • Establish and reinforce group norms to promote safety, respect, and confidentiality.
  • Monitor group dynamics and intervene effectively to ensure emotional safety.
  • Collaborate with other clinicians and staff to support client treatment goals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including group notes.
  • Bring creativity and innovation to group programming.
Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required.
  • Active Massachusetts license (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent) or license-eligible.
  • Prior experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to balance structure with creativity and flexibility in group programming.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and client-centered care.
