Engineering Tech - Product Design & Manufacturing Support
Job Description
Richardson Contract Furniture, a Division of Richardson Industries, Inc., is a manufacturer of office and institution furniture who are currently seeking a qualified candidate as an Engineering Technician. The Engineer technician is responsible for translating customer requirements into accurate, production-ready documentation. This role develops product drawings, material lists, and machine programs to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and to customer specifications. The position serves as a critical link between sales, engineering and production. Richardson Contract offers a 4 day 10 hour workweek along with a competitive benefit package eligible 1st of the month following hire date.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Interpretation & Design
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Interpret design intent and translate into manufacturable solutions.
- Clarify details with internal teams or customers to ensure accuracy.
Drawings & Documentation
- Create detailed production drawings using CAD software.
- Develop and Maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and cut lists.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and aligned with production capabilities.
Machine Programming
- Generate CNC programs and machine instructions for production.
- Optimize Programs for efficiency, material usage, and quality.
- Support machine operators with program-related questions or adjustments.
Production Support
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues and recommend solutions.
- Assist with process improvements and standardization of workflows.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure designs meet qualify standards and customer expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline processes.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar).
- Experience with CNC programming and manufacturing processes preferred.
- Understanding of woodworking, casework, or furniture manufacturing is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
