Pay: $22.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with a strong background in accounts payable, ACH payments, payroll, data entry, financial recordkeeping, and general accounting functions.

This position will also assist with financial reporting, expense approvals, LM-2 reporting, tax preparation for a non-profit organization, meeting preparation, and other administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, handling confidential financial information, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a high level of accuracy.

QuickBooks certification is preferred, and experience with QuickBooks Desktop is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accounts payable
  • Process invoices and verify appropriate documentation and approvals
  • Process ACH payments, checks, and other electronic payments
  • Assist with payroll processing and maintain accurate payroll records
  • Perform accurate and timely financial data entry
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other financial accounts
  • Process and record deposits and other financial transactions
  • Maintain vendor records and communicate with vendors regarding invoices and payments
  • Review and process expense requests and assist with expense approvals
  • Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and other accounting reports
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting procedures
  • Assist the accountant with preparation of LM-2 reports and related financial reporting
  • Maintain records and documentation necessary for LM-2 reporting, audits, and tax preparation
  • Assist with preparation of financial information and documentation for annual tax filings
  • Assist with required tax filings and reporting for a non-profit organization
  • Work with outside accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and vendors as necessary
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and related documentation
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting and organizational records
  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, and member information
  • Assist management and the Executive Board with financial information and reports as needed
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–4 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience required
  • Strong experience with accounts payable and invoice processing
  • Experience processing ACH payments required
  • Payroll processing experience required
  • Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliation
  • Experience preparing financial information for tax filings
  • Familiarity with LM-2 reporting preferred
  • Experience with non-profit tax preparation preferred
  • QuickBooks certification preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop strongly preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience reviewing and processing expense approvals
  • Experience preparing meeting agendas and minutes preferred
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a non-profit or membership-based organization is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • $22.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
  • 120-day probationary period
  • After successful completion of the probationary period, employees are eligible for:
