About the Role:

The ADC Activity Aide plays a vital role in supporting the daily activities and overall well-being of adult day care participants. This position focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where individuals can participate in therapeutic and recreational activities tailored to their abilities and interests. The aide collaborates closely with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure that each participant's physical, emotional, and social needs are met effectively. By facilitating group and individual activities, the aide helps promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and physical mobility. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to enhancing the quality of life for participants while supporting the operational goals of the adult day care center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities in a care or activity setting.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures relevant to adult day care environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, and team members.
  • Physical ability to assist with activities and mobility support as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing daily activity programs that cater to the diverse needs of adult day care participants.
  • Provide direct support and supervision to participants during activities to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Monitor participants’ responses to activities and report any changes in behavior or health to the supervisory staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity environment, including setting up materials and equipment.
  • Encourage socialization and positive interactions among participants to foster a supportive community atmosphere.
  • Document daily activities, participant attendance, and any notable observations accurately and in a timely.

Skills:

The ADC Activity Aide utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage participants and collaborate with the care team effectively. Organizational skills are essential for preparing activity materials and maintaining a safe environment. Observational skills help the aide monitor participant responses and identify any concerns promptly. Physical stamina and dexterity are necessary to assist with mobility and activity facilitation. Additionally, problem-solving skills enable the aide to adapt activities to meet individual participant needs and respond to unexpected situations with calm and professionalism.
