Material Handler – Night/Swing Shift

Pay: $22.00–$24.00 per hour
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday–Friday
Hours: 3:30 PM–2:00 AM
Overtime: Must be willing and available to work overtime on Mondays and Saturdays as needed

Position Summary

The Material Handler is a critical production support team member responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and material availability across warehouse, fabrication, and production operations.

This role helps maintain inventory integrity and production flow by ensuring raw materials, components, and finished goods are accurately identified, stored, staged, and delivered where and when they are needed.

In addition to material handling duties, the Material Handler provides flexible support to fabrication and production teams through material staging, inventory control, material preparation, workstation replenishment, scrap removal, tool utilization, and other operational support activities.

Success in this position requires a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely unload, receive, store, stage, move, and distribute materials to support warehouse and production requirements.
  • Accurately identify raw materials, components, finished goods, and designated storage locations.
  • Pick and stage materials according to production schedules and work requirements.
  • Rotate inventory appropriately to support proper stock utilization, traceability, and material control.
  • Perform material movements and inventory transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with investigating inventory discrepancies.
  • Help identify and resolve root causes of inventory inaccuracies.
  • Support inventory audits and physical inventory activities.
  • Report damaged, defective, or nonconforming materials immediately upon discovery.
  • Maintain organized storage and staging areas to promote efficient material flow.
  • Support fabrication operations by staging materials, moving parts, removing scrap, and replenishing workstations.
  • Provide qualified support to fabrication processes, tools, and equipment as assigned and trained.
  • Assist with material preparation and other production support activities as needed.
  • Follow established procedures for material handling, inventory transactions, and documentation.
  • Operate material-handling equipment safely and in accordance with company requirements and training.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, quality concerns, and production needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse, fabrication, production, quality, and other departments to support operational goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, inventory accuracy, and productivity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned based on operational and production needs.
Qualifications
  • Previous material handling, warehouse, manufacturing, fabrication, or production experience preferred.
  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, shipping/receiving, or production material staging is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately identify materials, part numbers, quantities, and storage locations.
  • Comfortable working with inventory systems, scanners, computers, or other electronic transaction systems.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment; forklift experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work the assigned swing/night shift.
  • Willingness to work overtime on Mondays and Saturdays when required by production needs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adjust to changing priorities.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive material-handling activities throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move materials consistent with established workplace safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in warehouse, fabrication, and manufacturing environments around machinery and production equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to safely perform assigned duties while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
