Location: Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Salary: $70,000–$110,000 DOE
Work Environment: Onsite | Boutique CPA Firm
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a boutique CPA firm in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, collaborating with a supportive team, and having a visible impact on the success of individuals and small businesses.
The ideal candidate brings strong tax preparation and review experience, excellent client-service skills, and the ability to identify opportunities beyond basic compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns (Form 1040)
- Prepare and review business tax returns, including:
- C Corporations – Form 1120
- S Corporations – Form 1120S
- Partnerships – Form 1065
- Manage tax engagements from initial client information gathering through final review and filing
- Research complex tax matters and provide practical recommendations to clients
- Identify tax-saving opportunities, credits, deductions, and planning strategies
- Assist clients with year-round tax planning, projections, and estimated tax strategies
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships through proactive, responsive communication
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for clients regarding federal, state, and local tax matters
- Stay current on evolving IRS regulations, tax legislation, and state tax requirements
- Help ensure tax returns and engagements are completed accurately and within required deadlines
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards
- Maintain organized and meticulous client records and documentation
- Collaborate closely with firm leadership and other team members to provide exceptional client service
- Participate in community, Chamber of Commerce, and networking events to strengthen relationships and support the firm's presence in the local business community
- Contribute ideas and expertise to continuously improve firm processes and the client experience
What You Bring
- 4+ years of progressive tax preparation and review experience, preferably within a CPA or public accounting firm
- Strong experience with individual and small-business taxation
- Demonstrated knowledge of Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations, compliance requirements, credits, and deductions
- Experience reviewing tax returns and identifying potential issues and planning opportunities
- Proficiency with UltraTax or comparable professional tax preparation software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex tax matters to clients in a clear, approachable way
- Client-focused mindset with the ability to develop long-term professional relationships
- Team-first attitude and willingness to collaborate in a supportive, close-knit environment
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred, but not required
