Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime
Work Location: On-site — No remote work
Pay: $15.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
About the Position
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Benefits Coordinator to join our team. This position will assist members with health insurance, retirement, and other benefit-related questions while maintaining accurate records and coordinating with benefit providers and other organizations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with employee benefits, insurance, human resources, or a related field. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work with confidential information.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for members regarding benefit and insurance questions
- Assist members with health, dental, vision, prescription, retirement, and other benefit-related questions
- Assist members with enrollment, changes, qualifying events, and termination of coverage
- Process and maintain benefit-related forms and documentation
- Maintain accurate member benefit and insurance records
- Communicate with insurance carriers, benefit providers, retirement plans, and other vendors
- Research and assist with resolving benefit and insurance issues
- Follow up with insurance companies and benefit providers regarding claims, coverage, eligibility, and other member concerns
- Assist members with understanding benefit statements, insurance correspondence, and other benefit documentation
- Process and maintain eligibility information
- Assist with benefit audits and reconciliation of records
- Maintain benefit-related reports, spreadsheets, and databases
- Assist with retirement and pension-related administrative matters
- Assist members with retirement paperwork and general retirement questions
- Assist with new member and retiree benefit information
- Maintain organized and accurate benefit files and records
- Maintain strict confidentiality of member and personal information
- Provide administrative support to the benefits department as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of experience in employee benefits, insurance, human resources, or a related field required
- Experience with health insurance and/or retirement benefits preferred
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work professionally with members and benefit providers
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to research problems, follow up, and resolve issues
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working in a non-profit or membership-based organization is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- $15.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
- 120-day probationary period
- After successful completion of the probationary period, employees are eligible for:
