  • Board Oversight: Finance/Audit designee for month-end sign?off and governance
  • Direct Reports: Biller; AP/Payroll Clerk

Core Responsibilities

  • Accounting & Month-End Close
    • Own the month?end close for each entity and consolidated holdings; complete by T+10 business days.
    • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, intercompany eliminations, and balance?sheet schedules (cash, AP/AR agings, payroll liabilities, fixed assets/depreciation).
    • Produce consolidated financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow – indirect).
    • Maintain GL integrity and chart of accounts; implement/improve accounting policies and internal controls.
    • Coordinate and manage external audits; ensure due diligence readiness.
  • Treasury, Cash Flow, and Debt Management
    • Prepare a consolidated, rolling cash forecast with updates twice weekly; manage daily liquidity and working capital.
    • Administer banking operations and cash controls (dual approvals, ACH/positive pay/wires).
    • Maintain debt schedules and covenant reporting; coordinate with lenders and prepare compliance packages.
  • Medicare Hospice CAP – Reporting & Compliance
    • Own full CAP reporting and compliance for all CCNs: monthly PS&R pulls, CAP roll?forward, JE support, and year?end exposure forecasting.
    • Reconcile Extended Repayment Arrangements monthly and maintain supporting documentation; coordinate with MAC/NGS as needed.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Board Reporting
    • Lead the annual budget process (build driver?based models; iterate scenarios; present for approval).
    • Maintain a monthly rolling forecast (base case; expand to scenarios as needed) and explain variances versus budget and prior periods.
    • Prepare the monthly financial pack: consolidated and by?entity P&L/BS/CF, YTD/TTM views, budget vs. actuals, and a concise financial narrative.
    • Present monthly results and outlook to the CEO and Board; own the financial narrative and Q&A.
  • Tax, Audit & Internal Controls
    • Prepare and review internal workpapers for tax returns and audits (fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, 1099s, payroll tie?outs, prepaids/deferrals).
    • Maintain and periodically test internal controls and SOPs across AP, payroll, billing, and close processes.
    • Coordinate with external CPA firms for filings and cost reports; ensure compliance with GAAP and hospice reimbursement rules.
  • Team Leadership & Process Improvement
    • Directly supervise the biller and AP/Payroll clerk: set goals, coach performance, and drive process improvements.
    • Document finance SOPs and close checklists; standardize reconciliations and review gates.
    • Lead the transition of controller responsibilities from the external vendor to in?house ownership.
  • Systems & Data
    • Operate within QuickBooks Online, ADP, banking portals, and hospice EMR/PS&R data sources; build reliable Excel?based models and reports.
    • Recommend pragmatic tooling or workflow automations to improve close speed, cash visibility, and reporting quality.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with multi?entity consolidation; prior Controller or Director?level experience in healthcare/hospice required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GAAP, month?end close, and financial statement preparation.
  • Hands?on treasury, cash forecasting, and lender compliance experience.
  • Direct experience with Medicare hospice finance, including CAP reporting and PS&R/NGS workflows.
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and payroll/accounting integrations.
  • Proven ability to manage small teams and build disciplined processes in a growth environment.
