We are looking for an attorney who is confident managing family law matters, values strong client relationships, and is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a small-firm environment.

This is a hybrid position primarily servicing clients and courts throughout Kendall, Will, and Grundy Counties.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of family law matters from initial consultation through resolution.
  • Handle divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, maintenance, post-decree, and other domestic relations matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, parenting plans, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct court appearances, status hearings, pretrial conferences, evidentiary hearings, and trials.
  • Prepare for and participate in mediation and settlement negotiations.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, expectations, and next steps.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to efficiently manage cases.
  • Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, billing entries, and client communications.
  • Provide practical, solution-focused legal advice while recognizing the sensitive and often emotional nature of family law matters.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Illinois.
  • 3–4 years of family law experience preferred.
  • Prior courtroom and litigation experience required; trial experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Illinois family law statutes, local court procedures, and domestic relations practice.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage cases and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client-management skills.
  • Professional, organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to courthouses throughout Kendall, Will, and Grundy Counties.

This is a hybrid position, offering a combination of remote work and in-person responsibilities. In-person attendance will be required for court appearances, client meetings, firm meetings, and other matters as necessary.
