JOB SUMMARY:

The Pressman is responsible for producing high-quality multicolor printing. This position is unique in that the individual is not isolated as within a typical commercial plant. Contributes to the company’s programs and goals.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate printing presses utilizing the lithographic printing process.

• Perform preventative maintenance on all shop equipment. Maintain inventory of common replacement parts and make minor repairs.

• Must have knowledge of papers, inks and how to order for any incoming print jobs. Maintain inventory levels of standard operating supplies.

• Review all incoming paper and supplies to assure quality standards have been met and quantities are accurate.

• Review complete preparatory materials submitted for accuracy of layout and overall quality prior to press run.

• Operate programmable paper cutter.

• Complete projects utilizing various types of bindery equipment – collator, paper drill, folding machine, automatic labeler, color copies, etc.

• Create and edit web pages on The Okonite Company website.

• Assist with Advertising Department projects such as preparing mailings and preparing cable samples for trade shows.

• Provide information and discuss basic shop capabilities with individuals requesting services.

• Provide input to improve the department’s production and services.

• Assure that all shop safety standards are maintained and immediately report any problems.

• Operate and maintain the Digital Printing Press.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• MUST be computer literate and be able to work with CorelDraw, Adobe Acrobat Professional, MS FrontPage, Heidelberg MetaDimension (Computer to Plate software – used to create printing for presses).


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High School graduate required.

• Broad-based printing production background.

Morse for his telegraph network and Thomas A. Edison for the Pearl Street Generating Station, the nation's first, built in New York City in 1882.

Okonite serves a multitude of markets including Electric Utility (Distribution, Transmission, and Generation including fossil and nuclear), Oil & Gas (refineries and production platforms), Chemical, Military bases, Railroad, Transit and Pulp & Paper. In addition, we provide cables to various other industrial customers in areas of Hospitals, Colleges & Universities, Water Treatment Plants and Data Centers. With today's focus on renewable energy, Okonite cables can be found at Wind Farms, Solar Farms, and Biofuel generating facilities.
