Shifts:

  • 23:30–08:00
  • 15:30–24:00

Pay Rate: $29/hr + $5.09 /hr worth SCA benefits

Roles and Responsibilities:

Decontamination Area:

• Appropriately transport contaminated RME from point‐of‐use areas to SPS Decontamination, following all IFUs and local SOPs.

• Always wear proper PPE.

• Completely disassemble and properly position RME components to ensure removal of bioburden.

• Perform manual and mechanical cleaning of RME.

• Remove bioburden by soaking, wiping, or brushing.

• Use automated cleaning equipment per SOPs and manufacturer instructions.

• Remove stains using approved chemicals.

• Disinfect critical, semi‐critical, and non‐critical RME.

• Perform all functions of the decontamination process for surgical, medical, and dental instruments.

• Transport contaminated RME following appropriate safety and chemical-use guidelines.

• Follow IFUs, properly operate equipment such as washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, dental handpiece systems, AER units, and chemical agents.

• Conduct visual inspections to ensure cleanliness before transfer to clean side.

• Perform all functions related to flexible endoscope reprocessing.

• Conduct inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization/HLD of flexible endoscopes and RME.

• Read, interpret, and follow all manufacturer IFUs and SPS SOPs.

• Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.

• Perform and document quality assurance checks for reprocessing equipment and RME.

Preparation Area:

• Perform all prep/packaging and sterilization functions including documentation.

• Inspect instrumentation for cleanliness and function.

• Assemble instrument sets according to count sheets.

• Inspect, assemble, package, and document surgical/dental trays per count sheets.

• Determine proper sterilization method (steam, low‐temp, Sterrad, AER, manual HLD).

• Safely load, operate, and troubleshoot sterilizers; perform all required QA tests.

• Properly store/deliver sterile items per facility protocol.

• Wear required PPE.

Minimum qualifications:

• Minimum two (2) years of recent SPS technician experience.

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant SPS experience or education.

• HSPA or CBSPD certification required.

• Knowledge of aseptic principles, detergents, cleaning techniques, and sterilization methods.

• Knowledge of surgical instrument use, operation, maintenance, assembly/disassembly, cleaning, sterilization, and storage.

• Ability to interpret written materials, regulations, instructions, and reports.

• Ability to communicate effectively.
