About the Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Quality Assurance Technician to join our food manufacturing team in Womelsdorf, PA.

The Quality Assurance Technician plays an important role in ensuring that our products meet established quality, food safety, production, and regulatory standards. This position works closely with Production Operators, Leads, and Management to identify quality issues, perform product testing, document results, and ensure that finished products meet company and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate is highly attentive to detail, comfortable working on a production floor, and able to communicate effectively in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all current GMPs, food safety requirements, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Test incoming potato loads for specific gravity.
  • Test chip moisture and communicate results to fryer operators so corrective action can be taken when necessary.
  • Check salt and seasoning levels and work with production leads to maintain target levels.
  • Perform sensory/organoleptic evaluations of chips for defects, color, flavor, texture, and overall quality.
  • Test frying oil for Free Fatty Acids (FFAs) and communicate results to production personnel.
  • Verify finished-product net weight, coding, packaging integrity, and labeling.
  • Check oxygen levels in finished-product bags.
  • Verify metal detector performance and document results.
  • Verify and document compliance with GMP and food safety standards.
  • Inspect production lines at start-up and during product changeovers.
  • Perform or assist with sanitation verification using approved testing methods and swabs.
  • Identify out-of-specification product and place appropriate QC Hold tags.
  • Complete required quality documentation and ensure non-conforming product is properly segregated to prevent shipment.
  • Collect samples of questionable product for evaluation.
  • Collect raw material, in-process, and finished-product samples according to established procedures.
  • Test raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products according to company specifications.
  • Accurately document and maintain quality-control test results.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure food safety and quality standards are consistently maintained.
  • Communicate test results, quality concerns, and corrective actions to appropriate production and management personnel.
  • Assist Production Operators and Leads with quality-related issues when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance & Sanitation Manager.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, food manufacturing, laboratory testing, or production preferred.
  • Experience with GMPs and food safety procedures strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete paperwork, logs, and quality documentation.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and established testing methods.
  • Ability to work independently while also working effectively with Production and Management.
  • Ability to make decisions and communicate quality concerns promptly.


Work Environment

This is a hands-on food manufacturing position that requires working on the production floor. The environment may be fast-paced and include exposure to noise, heat, moisture, food-processing


equipment, oils, and cleaning/sanitation activities.

Candidates must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods and working around active production equipment.

The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable speaking up when a product or process does not meet quality standards.


Experience as a Quality Assurance Technician, Quality Control Technician, Food Safety Technician, Quality Inspector, Production Quality Technician, or Food Manufacturing Technician is highly desirable.
