Electronics Technician
Job Description
We are hiring our first full-time technician. This person will handle the hands-on technical work: spot welding, soldering, BMS and circuitry repair, and testing finished packs to confirm they are safe and performing correctly.
You will work directly with the owner. Because we are still building our processes, you will have real input into how the work gets done rather than following an established playbook.
A significant part of this role connects to our certification effort. We will be going back and forth with a certification body, and in that process technical details and specifics matter enormously. Precise measurements, disciplined documentation, and the ability to explain exactly what was done and why are core to this job, not an afterthought.
The ability to speak or read Mandarin is a genuine help in this role. See the language section below for why.
What the Work Looks Like
• Performing precision spot welding work to specification
• Soldering, along with BMS and circuitry repair
• Testing finished packs for capacity, resistance, and current delivery under load
• Diagnosing faults in incoming packs, determining root cause, and documenting findings accurately
• Maintaining clean, consistent records of work performed and test results
• Establishing and following safety procedures for handling, charging, and storing lithium-ion cells
• Producing technical documentation that supports our certification work
• Helping identify and improve bottlenecks in the process as we grow
What We’re Looking For
• A minimum of one year of hands-on technical experience in a relevant field. This could be electronics repair, battery or pack work, electrical work, precision assembly, or a similar technical background
• Working soldering skill, ideally on electronics or other fine, precision work
• Spot welding experience is a plus
• Comfort with basic electrical concepts and measurement. If you already understand internal resistance, how series and parallel wiring changes a pack’s behavior, and how to work out current capability from a spec sheet, say so, because that experience is directly relevant and valued here
• Willingness to test rather than assume. A pack can seem to work fine and still be unsafe, so the difference between a rating on paper and measured real-world performance matters a great deal in this job
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work through a problem on your own. We are a small team, so we value people who take ownership of a task, think it through, and see it to completion
• Careful, methodical habits and a serious attitude toward safety
• Comfort in a small, early-stage company where things change and processes are still being written
Language Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
Reading and speaking Mandarin, or the ability to read written Chinese, is a real advantage in this role and will be weighted favorably. Several of our cell suppliers are based in China and Taiwan, and technical datasheets, quality documentation, and supplier correspondence often arrive in Chinese. This is a preference tied to the work itself, not a requirement, and candidates without it are encouraged to apply.
Nice to Have
• Experience with power tools or repair work of any kind
• Any exposure to quality control, testing standards, or certification processes
• Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, electronic loads, or cycle testers
To Apply
Reply with a short note about your relevant experience and a resume. Tell us about the most technically demanding hands-on work you have done.
We also want to hear a little about how you work. Walk us through your approach when you hit an unfamiliar problem: how you break it down, what you check first, and how you decide when something is actually solved.
We perform repair and service work on lithium-ion battery packs. We work at the cell level to restore packs to full working performance, servicing a wide range of mainstream and commonly used brands across cordless power tools, household equipment, and other battery-powered devices.
We are a small, early-stage company based in Seattle. We are currently working toward UL certification for our process, which is a major undertaking and a central focus of the company right now.
