Logistics Specialist (Hazmat Certified)
Job Description
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Position: Logistics Specialist I
Duties:
- Assist with preparing logistics documentation for spares, tools, test equipment, materials, and related manuals.
- Support routing, documenting, and coordinating shipping logistics.
- Maintain records of equipment, components, repair parts, and related manuals.
- Track logistics materials and parts for proper allocation within storage facilities.
- Learn and apply applicable state, federal, and global regulations.
- Follow import/export requirements.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs/steps.
- Frequently perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements.
- Requires hand and finger dexterity.
- Frequently requires close, distance, and depth perception.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors.
- Occasionally requires hearing abilities to distinguish different tones and volumes.
- Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements, including high/low temperatures, sun, rain, and snow.
- Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
- Occasionally exposed to loud noises.
Safety-Sensitive Position:
- Responsible for the safety and security of people or property.
- May inspect, handle, or transport explosives, dangerous, or hazardous materials.
- May inspect structures, equipment, or vehicles.
- May perform aviation-related duties.
- May operate or supervise vehicles, heavy equipment, dangerous equipment, or machinery.
Skills — Must-Haves:
- Basic Microsoft Word skills.
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills.
Skills — Preferred:
- Exposure to inventory databases.
- Familiarity with inventory and supply chain/logistics principles and techniques.
- Familiarity with AvPro or similar aviation maintenance tracking systems.
- HazMat training/certification.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Experience with shipping databases such as FedEx, DHL, or UPS.
- Understanding of shelf-life requirements.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry, U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.
Education — Must-Haves:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
Certifications & Licenses:
- HazMat Certification.
