Job Description
We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Anaheim, California. This role focuses on strengthening product cost visibility, supporting inventory accuracy, and delivering reliable financial analysis in a high-volume production environment. The position works closely with operations and cross-functional teams to build meaningful cost models, support pricing decisions, and help ensure a smooth month-end close.

Responsibilities:
• Build detailed cost models for products and new components by assessing materials, labor inputs, overhead structure, and expected margins.
• Partner with production teams to gather shop floor data and confirm that costs are assigned correctly across parts, jobs, and inventory.
• Prepare pricing support and proposal estimates by translating operational and engineering inputs into accurate manufacturing cost assumptions.
• Review inventory activity through cycle counts, reconciliations, and variance research to improve accuracy and valuation quality.
• Support month-end close by preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and analyzing fluctuations in manufacturing-related balances.
• Evaluate work orders, production performance, and cost trends to identify unusual results and recommend corrective action.
• Track standard costs, labor rates, and overhead rates to help maintain dependable reporting and informed business decisions.
• Contribute to special projects involving inventory controls, reserve analysis, and broader manufacturing finance improvements.• Prior cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, including valuation, count processes, and discrepancy analysis.
• Experience working in a larger company setting with exposure to how operational activity affects product costing and financial results.
• Knowledge of standard costing, manufacturing cost analysis, and cost allocation methods.
• Ability to perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and month-end close support with accuracy.
• Comfortable collaborating with operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance teams to gather cost inputs and validate assumptions.
• Proficiency in analyzing margins, labor content, overhead structure, and product-level profitability.
