Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs and supports setup, in-process, incoming, and final inspection of components and finished products using optical and mechanical measurement and test equipment. This role focuses on detecting defects through visual inspections, precise measurements, and functional testing, while actively supporting production operators in maintaining and improving product quality. The Quality Inspector also contributes to problem-solving activities aimed at reducing quality issues and associated costs.
Responsibilities- Perform and support setup, in-process, and incoming inspections of components and products using optical and mechanical measurement or test equipment.
- Inspect and test finished goods and components to detect defects and ensure they meet established quality standards.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and functional tests to verify product conformance.
- Initiate reject (non-conforming) reports when issues are identified and lead containment activities to prevent further impact on production.
- Support production operators in reviewing product quality and implementing containment actions when necessary.
- Participate in problem-solving efforts to reduce quality issues and associated costs across processes and products.
- Perform first article inspections to validate new setups or changes to processes and ensure they meet specifications.
- Utilize moisture testing and other relevant quality control techniques as needed to verify product integrity.
- Read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings to understand product requirements and inspection criteria.
- Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to operators, supervisors, and other team members.
- Work independently as the sole Quality Inspector on the shift while maintaining high levels of communication with the broader team.
- Use computer systems and software, including SAP where applicable, to record inspection data, non-conformance reports, and other quality documentation.
- Support and adhere to safety programs by identifying near misses or concerns and following established reporting procedures.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use inspection-related software and systems; SAP experience is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings, or alternatively demonstrate strong math skills to interpret measurements and tolerances.
- Proficiency in quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection practices.
- Experience performing visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and functional tests on components and finished products.
- Ability to perform first article inspections to validate setups and process changes.
- Familiarity with moisture testing and other quality verification methods.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey inspection findings clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work independently as the only Quality Inspector on the shift while maintaining high levels of communication.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in detecting defects and documenting non-conformances.
- Capability to initiate reject (non-conforming) reports and lead containment activities when quality issues arise.
- SAP experience is considered a plus and supports efficient documentation and data management.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus and can enhance communication within a diverse workforce.
- Experience participating in problem-solving activities to reduce quality issues and costs.
- Comfort working in a close-knit environment with regular one-on-one feedback and performance discussions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operators and other team members to support continuous improvement in product quality.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an air-conditioned facility equipped with a separate air filtration system, providing a clean and comfortable work setting. The Quality Inspector works as the only inspector on the assigned shift and must be comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication with operators and other team members. The environment emphasizes safety and continuous improvement, supported by structured programs that encourage reporting of near misses and concerns. Regular one-on-one reviews focus on contribution and growth, and performance-based raises may be available based on effort, attitude, attendance, and learning. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pinellas Park, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
