Our client, a well-established property management organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist III to join their team in a contract-to-hire capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong accounts payable experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Position Details
The Accounting Specialist III will support the accounting team by managing high-volume accounts payable activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, payroll processing, and other accounting functions across a diverse property portfolio. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Position Details
- Position: Accounting Specialist III
- Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Compensation: $21 to $24.50/hour
- Location: Tigard, OR
- Full-Time: 40 hours per week

The Accounting Specialist III will support the accounting team by managing high-volume accounts payable activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, payroll processing, and other accounting functions across a diverse property portfolio. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Process approximately 1,000 invoices weekly.
- Manage accounting functions for a portfolio of 35-40 properties.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Process rent collections, security deposits, and account adjustments.
- Assist with financial statement preparation.
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting activities.
- Process bi-weekly payroll.
- Complete daily check processing and bank transfers.
- Review tenant and property activity for accuracy within internal systems.
- Provide training and support to new accounting team members.
- Assist with compliance and reporting related to housing subsidy programs.
- Support various accounting and administrative projects as assigned.
- Strong experience in high-volume accounts payable processing.
- Experience handling large invoice volumes and account coding.
- Solid understanding of debits, credits, and account reconciliations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Property management accounting experience is preferred but not required.
- Degree not required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Alternatively, 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

- Accounts payable automation platforms
- Property management accounting systems
- ERP/accounting software (Sage experience a plus)
