The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors production machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. This role performs tooling and material changeovers, troubleshoots minor equipment issues, maintains accurate production and quality records, and supports a smooth and reliable manufacturing process.

Responsibilities
  • Set up assigned machines, including preparing tooling and equipment for production runs.
  • Operate, monitor, and make necessary adjustments to the setup of assigned machines to maintain optimal performance.
  • Manage a machine-to-operator ratio of up to four assembly machines per operator while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.
  • Perform tooling and material changeovers accurately and efficiently as production requirements change.
  • Maintain accurate production records and document output, downtime, and other relevant data.
  • Perform quality inspections on products to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.
  • Monitor equipment for quality or operational issues and address them promptly to prevent defects or delays.
  • Maintain high standards for product quality and demonstrate personal accountability for work performed.
  • Package and label finished products accurately for internal use and for shipping.
  • Complete basic math calculations as needed for production, measurements, and documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures when working with machinery and chemicals, following established guidelines and protocols.
  • Use basic hand tools to perform mechanical adjustments and minor maintenance on machines.
  • Work regular hours and overtime as needed to support production demands.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of machine operation experience or equivalent experience in automotive work or machinery repair/building.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machinery and tooling function.
  • Proficiency in machine operation, including starting, stopping, monitoring, and adjusting equipment.
  • Experience performing tooling changes and equipment changeovers in a production environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve minor equipment and process issues.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools to perform mechanical adjustments on machines.
  • Capability to maintain accurate production records and perform basic quality inspections.
  • Basic math skills to complete calculations required for production and documentation.
  • Physically able to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Willingness to work regular hours and overtime as needed to support production schedules.
  • Comfort working with machinery and chemicals while strictly following safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in general production, general labor, or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with quality tools relevant to machine operation and inspection.
  • Ability to package and label finished products accurately for shipping.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high product quality.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team environment within a larger organizational structure.

Work Environment

The role is based in an air-conditioned production facility with a separate air filtration system, providing a clean and comfortable work setting. The department operates 19 machines with a team of approximately 8 people, offering a collaborative yet focused environment. Work involves standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35 pounds while operating and adjusting machinery using basic hand tools. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pinellas Park, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
