Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work in a first-shift manufacturing environment assembling steel and metal products using basic blueprints, hand tools, and measuring instruments. You will build and inspect components to ensure they meet quality standards and prepare finished products for shipment according to customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Assemble components and products using basic mechanical assembly techniques and simple blueprints.
- Read and interpret simple blueprints to understand assembly requirements and specifications.
- Use common hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and kitting tools to complete assembly tasks.
- Operate power tools including drills and grinders safely and effectively during the assembly process.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy of assembled parts.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of the final product to confirm it meets quality and client standards.
- Package finished products according to client instructions, ensuring proper labeling, protection, and organization.
- Follow manufacturing and assembly procedures to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
- Handle materials and components in an organized manner to support efficient kitting and assembly operations.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and orderly work area in a heavy steel manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to read and work from simple blueprints to complete assembly tasks.
- Proficiency using hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and other common shop tools.
- Ability to safely use power tools including drills and grinders.
- Skill in using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to check dimensions and tolerances.
- Experience performing basic inspection of assembled products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Comfort working with heavy steel and metal products in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is beneficial.
- Familiarity with forklift operation is a plus.
- Experience with mechanical assembly of steel or metal components is preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed client packaging and inspection instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance on a fixed first-shift schedule.

Work Environment
This position is based in a heavy steel manufacturing facility that focuses on the fabrication of steel and metal products. The environment can become hot during the summer months due to the nature of the work and materials. The role is on first shift, working Monday through Thursday from 4:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and one paid 10-minute break. You will regularly work with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments in an industrial shop setting, following established safety practices and procedures.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
