About the OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Mold Setter / Injection Molding Setup Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for mold installations, changeovers, machine startups, process adjustments, troubleshooting, and supporting production operations within a plastic injection molding environment.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience setting molds on injection molding machines, operating material handling equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient production operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstall and remove molds in plastic injection molding machines
Clean mold mounting surfaces before and after mold changes
Align molds and sprue bushings for accurate machine setup
Transport molds using overhead cranes, hoists, and tow motors/forklifts
Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control procedures

Connect and disconnect:- Water lines
- Air lines
- Hydraulic lines
- Thermolators
- Auxiliary equipment
- Core pulls and knockout systems
Start production runs and perform machine startups
Adjust molding parameters and process setups as required
Troubleshoot mold, machine, and process-related issues
Assist production leadership with machine and equipment concerns
Perform minor mold maintenance and repair activities
Update production documentation, work instructions, and setup records
Communicate tooling and production information during shift transitions
Support general maintenance, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of Injection Molding Setup or Mold Setting experience
- Experience with mold changeovers and machine startups
- Forklift/Tow Motor operation experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes or hoists
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to use measurement devices and hand tools accurately
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Injection molding process optimization experience
- Robot setup and operation experience
- Mold maintenance and repair experience
- Lead, Foreman, or team leadership experience
- Lean Manufacturing / 5S experience
- Lift and move 25-75 pounds regularly
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and climbing
- Work around heat, dust, machinery, and moving equipment
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to safely tighten mold clamps, fittings, and mechanical connections
