Instrument Test Technician 2

Location: Milpitas, CA 95035
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Pay: $28–$32/hour
Contract: 12+ Months

Job Summary

The Instrument Test Technician 2 will perform production testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and optimization of flow cytometers and related medical devices. The technician will work with electronic, mechanical, optical, fluidic, and electromechanical systems to identify defects, determine root causes, and ensure products meet quality and performance specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform final production testing and inspection of medical devices.
  • Conduct instrument optimization, including laser alignment, pressure adjustments, and electrical adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot defective units and determine root causes.
  • Repair or replace defective components and assemblies.
  • Record test results, measurements, and required documentation in Device History Records (DHR).
  • Read and follow test instructions, work orders, BOMs, SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Work with engineers, technicians, QA, and production teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and document troubleshooting procedures.
  • Support quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle-time, and new product initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze production/test data and performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, training records, and time sheets.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of related experience in high-tech manufacturing.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic, mechanical, optical, fluidic, or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, DVMs, logic analyzers, and general test equipment.
  • Strong PC/Mac skills and experience with Word and Excel.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Exposure to ISO 9000 and cGMP 21 CFR Part 820 preferred.
