The Test Technician performs functional testing on incoming OEM products prior to disassembly and conducts final product testing and quality checks in accordance with established procedures and requirements. This role coordinates daily with production team leaders to align testing priorities, documents all test results, escalates critical failures, and supports troubleshooting and repair of functional issues. The Test Technician also assists with production electro-mechanical assembly work as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming functional tests on OEM products prior to disassembly, ensuring all units meet required standards before further processing.
  • Conduct final product testing and perform final quality checks in strict accordance with documented procedures, specifications, and requirements.
  • Coordinate daily with production team leaders to establish priorities for pre-tests and final product tests, aligning testing activities with production schedules.
  • Create, maintain, and organize accurate record-keeping documentation for all testing results, including first pass yield (FPY) pass and fail data.
  • Identify and flag any critical failures to the appropriate supervisor, production leadership, or engineering representative, based on the nature and severity of the failure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair functional issues encountered during testing when necessary, documenting corrective actions and communicating with product owners regarding failure causes and resolutions.
  • Perform production electro-mechanical assembly duties as needed, following blueprints, drawings, and detailed specifications.
  • Use test equipment, multi-meters, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools to verify product performance and isolate faults.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions carefully to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to safety and procedural standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support smooth production flow and timely completion of testing and assembly tasks.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Four (4) years of technical experience, with electrical-mechanical assembly experience highly preferred.
  • Up to two years of testing experience and/or training preferred; testing experience may be included within the four years of technical experience.
  • Experience with electronic assembly, including working with printed circuit boards (PCBs), surface mount components, and wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and detailed specifications.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment, multi-meters, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Skill in soldering and electronic assembly techniques, including through-hole and surface mount soldering.
  • Basic comprehension of PC networking and operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
  • Previous experience installing and using Microsoft Office Suite and other operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of precision in all testing and assembly tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, using logical troubleshooting methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools such as screwdrivers, handheld drills, and crimping tools.
  • Experience working with electronic assemblies, wiring, and test equipment in a production environment.
  • Comfort working with schematics and technical documentation to guide testing and assembly activities.
  • Ability to maintain organized documentation and records related to testing and quality checks.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for product quality and testing accuracy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashburn, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
