Job Description
The Production Technician supports safe and efficient manufacturing operations by performing mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks on production equipment. This role works closely with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot issues, complete repairs, and ensure machinery operates reliably and consistently. The position also involves maintaining accurate documentation of work performed, managing parts inventory, and contributing to preventive maintenance activities in a clean, chemical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Work alongside a maintenance technician to complete mechanical and electrical repairs on production machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify root causes and restore machinery to proper operating condition.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Frequently bend, lift, and move items up to 50 pounds as part of daily maintenance and production support activities.
- Perform PC-based functions related to maintenance, including entering data and updating system records.
- Enter parts inventory accurately into the work system to ensure proper tracking and availability of components.
- Complete work orders thoroughly, including detailed comments, actions taken, and parts used for each job.
- Create and process purchase requisitions for parts and materials needed for maintenance and repairs.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Assist with the installation, wiring, and routing of conduit and electrical components as needed.
- Support safe operation of equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to maintain high standards of product quality and equipment reliability.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial or manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with electrical repair in an industrial environment, including working with solenoids, motor starters, and wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support troubleshooting and repairs.
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on production or industrial equipment.
- Ability to perform PC functions related to maintenance, including data entry and use of maintenance or work order systems.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and perform physical tasks such as bending and moving equipment or parts.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment operation in an industrial setting.
- Basic understanding of working safely in a chemical environment.
- Degree in Industrial Maintenance or a similar field, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with industrial controls, including motor starters and solenoids.
- Experience working with conduit installation and electrical wiring in an industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience with pneumatics, including valves, cylinders, and air systems.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and related components.
- Prior experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar work order software.
- Comfort working in a chemical manufacturing environment while following safety procedures and guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail when documenting work orders, parts usage, and maintenance activities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance and production team and communicate clearly about equipment status and needs.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a clean, well-lit chemical manufacturing environment designed to support safe and efficient production. You will work primarily on the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., supporting ongoing operations and maintenance activities during this time. The work involves regular interaction with production machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Safety procedures are emphasized, particularly due to the chemical processes on site, and you will use appropriate tools, equipment, and protective measures to perform maintenance tasks effectively.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emerson, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.50 - $29.85/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
