Lead Assembler
Job Description
The Lead Assembler works hands-on alongside a team of approximately ten assemblers to build mechanical and electrical switch assemblies. This role focuses on precise, detail-oriented assembly work in a climate-controlled environment, using a variety of hand tools and following blueprints and schematics. As a working lead, you actively contribute to production while providing guidance and support to the assembly team.
Responsibilities- Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical assembly of switch components with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Use hand tools such as tweezers, pliers, crimpers, and rivet tools to assemble and secure parts according to specifications.
- Interpret and follow blueprints and electrical schematics to complete assemblies correctly and efficiently.
- Carry out electronic assembly tasks, including wiring and component placement, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
- Inspect assembled units to verify quality, alignment, and adherence to technical standards and documentation.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to a group of approximately ten assemblers as a working lead on the production floor.
- Coordinate workflow and help organize tasks to meet production schedules and output targets.
- Assist team members with troubleshooting assembly issues and resolving minor mechanical or electrical problems.
- Promote safe work practices, including proper use of tools and equipment, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments as needed to maintain smooth operations and continuous improvement in assembly processes.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with electrical assembly, including basic wiring and component installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately.
- Proficiency using hand tools such as tweezers, pliers, crimpers, and rivet tools for detailed assembly work.
- Experience with electronic assembly tasks, including working with small components and precise connections.
- Demonstrated supervisory or lead experience in an assembly or similar production setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively while seated for extended periods in a production environment.
- Soldering skills are a plus and may be used for certain electrical or electronic assembly tasks.
- Comfort working in a working lead role, balancing hands-on assembly with team support and coordination.
- Good communication skills to provide clear instructions and feedback to team members.
- Basic understanding of safety practices related to mechanical and electrical assembly.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a climate-controlled production facility where most work is performed while seated at an assembly station. You use a variety of hand tools, including tweezers, pliers, crimpers, and rivet tools, as well as reference materials such as blueprints and schematics. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a four-day workweek with long, consistent shifts. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and organized workflows typical of a mechanical and electrical assembly setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
