Job Description:

This role oversees daily manufacturing operations for Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) photovoltaic cells on a 12-hour rotating schedule, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient production. The position leads and coaches a team of manufacturing leaders and technicians, manages equipment throughput, resolves bottlenecks, and ensures that each shift meets volume, yield, and efficiency targets while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily PERC solar cell manufacturing operations on a 12-hour rotating schedule, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient production.
  • Lead, supervise, coach, and evaluate shift operators, manufacturing team leaders, and production technicians to achieve performance and development goals.
  • Manage equipment throughput across production lines, identify and resolve line bottlenecks, and ensure shift output meets daily volume, yield, and efficiency targets.
  • Monitor and control PERC automation processes, including automated wafer handling, wet chemical etching, diffusion, ALD/PECVD passivation, and metallization.
  • Allocate labor and materials efficiently across active production lines to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate closely with maintenance teams to enable rapid response to equipment failures and to maintain equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Implement and sustain 5S standards on the production floor, including driving autonomous maintenance activities within the shift team.
  • Report, track, and analyze key performance indicators, supporting process reliability and driving reductions in variability and waste.
  • Maintain rigorous adherence to the Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 quality and management standards.
  • Monitor real-time inline inspection data, including micro-crack detection and electroluminescence (EL) testing, to identify and correct wafer defects early in the process.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for process deviations and product quality issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Drive problem-solving activities using tools such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Ensure strict adherence to OSHA standards and safety protocols, including hazardous chemical handling and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Deliver clear, documented updates during shift handovers to ensure seamless communication between incoming and outgoing teams.
  • Onboard and train new hires on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and cleanroom practices.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and assess team members for pay progression and career development.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in high-volume, automated manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in production supervision within an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with PERC automation processes, including automated wafer handling, wet chemical etching, diffusion, ALD/PECVD passivation, and metallization.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills using structured methods such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Technical literacy and data management experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with engineers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Clear and effective communication skills for conveying operational status, issues, and improvement plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals and enforce PPE and safety standards.
  • Capability to monitor and interpret real-time inspection data, including micro-crack and EL testing results, to drive quality improvements.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform duties in a cleanroom environment on 12-hour shifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Greenwood, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

2-2-3 rotating schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, rotating); 12-hour shifts (Day or Night rotation required); Cleanroom environment; Ability to stand for prolonged periods
