Job Description

The Shipping Coordinator oversees daily shipping, inventory, and bin replenishment activities to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely movement of goods through the warehouse. This role manages slotting and bin health, supports order processing in ERP/MRP systems, coordinates outbound shipments with carriers, and provides responsive service to internal teams and external customers. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with warehouse systems, and the ability to operate material handling equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the bin replenishment queue to ensure product availability for order picking.
  • Manage product slotting to create optimal warehouse flow and maximize order picking efficiency.
  • Maintain bin health by managing minimum and maximum stock levels, economic order quantities, storage types, and weight limitations.
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse administrative and reporting procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices and manage disposal of short-life or SLED materials.
  • Monitor and respond to shipping office emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform routine audits of tasks in wave, including orders not started and orders not goods issued (PGI’d).
  • Verify completion of orders through the order processing system (SAP) and ensure system accuracy.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, provide customers with requested information, and demonstrate professional phone etiquette.
  • Ensure less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments are consolidated and scheduled with preferred carriers according to guidance from Sales and Warehouse leadership.
  • Support Shipping/Receiving, Inside Sales, and Inventory departments with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling outbound shipments in accordance with established truckload schedules.
  • Release customer orders for shipment and coordinate with freight lines, common carriers, and international carriers.
  • Provide responsive service to customers, carriers, and internal departments, including communicating change order responses to Inside Sales.
  • Manage customer close orders and coordinate the receipt and dispatch of goods with carriers and customer deliveries.
  • Generate accurate bills of lading and hazmat documentation for outbound shipments.
  • Conduct regular inventory cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Assist in identifying and determining root causes for inventory discrepancies and support corrective actions.
  • Run inventory reports to ensure bin accuracy and data integrity.
  • Establish and maintain a cycle counting schedule based on A, B, C, and D indicators, and oversee regular cycle counts across the operation.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure records accurately reflect physical stock.
  • Operate forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and electric pallet jacks safely and efficiently as part of daily duties.
  • Consistently prioritize and promote safe work practices while operating equipment and performing warehouse tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve group goals and maintain a productive warehouse environment.
  • Multi-task effectively and take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced setting to meet shipping and inventory deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum related warehouse or manufacturing experience or training (experience required; specific years not provided).
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and electric pallet jacks.
  • Strong computer aptitude and comfort working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience using enterprise systems such as SAP and Oracle for logistics, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical warehouse and inventory situations.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in group settings and one-on-one with all departments and levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Consistent focus on safety and the ability to promote and practice safe work behaviors.
  • Customer service skills, including professional phone etiquette and responsiveness to customer and internal inquiries.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to accomplish shared goals.
  • Results-focused mindset with the ability to multi-task and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, and logistics operations.
  • Ability to manage LTL shipments and coordinate with carriers.
  • Comfort working with hazmat documentation and bills of lading.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly skilled in ERP/MRP systems for order processing, inventory management, and logistics coordination.
  • Experience with SAP and Oracle software in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience operating reach trucks and forklifts in a high-volume warehouse.
  • Strong logistics experience, including coordination with domestic and international carriers.
  • Proven ability to conduct inventory cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with ABCD inventory classification and cycle counting methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple administrative tasks and projects supporting Shipping/Receiving, Inside Sales, and Inventory teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when generating shipping and hazmat documentation.
  • Comfort working in a challenging, fast-paced warehouse environment with fluctuating priorities.

Work Environment

This role operates in a warehouse environment that emphasizes structural product solutions and safe material handling practices. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional early start times and some Saturday shifts of approximately 4–6 hours, though weekend work is infrequent. The warehouse is swamp-cooled, with temperatures typically in the low 90s, and industrial fans are installed throughout the facility, including down each aisle and on the reach trucks, to improve air circulation and comfort. The position requires regular operation of forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and electric pallet jacks, as well as frequent use of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP and Oracle for logistics and inventory tasks. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes and long pants or work jeans to support a safe and practical working environment.e

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
