Senior Accountant
Job Description
Our client, a highly respected NYC nonprofit, is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join a collaborative finance team supporting a diverse and complex range of operations.
The Senior Accountant will play an important role in the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions, with responsibility for month-end close activities, fixed assets, revenue accounting, reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis. This position will also provide support for financial and mission-related investments, audits, budgeting, and other accounting initiatives.
Responsibilities:
· Manage fixed asset records in NetSuite, including acquisitions, disposals, reconciliations, and depreciation calculations.
· Support the monthly close by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling bank accounts, analyzing balance sheet accounts, and researching discrepancies.
· Handle revenue-related accounting, including reviewing system reports, reconciling receipts and deposits, and recording appropriate entries.
· Oversee sales tax payments and filings, while preparing depreciation projections and supporting schedules for budgets and audits.
· Support investment accounting and cash management activities, including fund transfers, investment transactions, cash-flow entries, and backup custodial administration.
· Maintain accurate financial documentation and investment records while contributing to special projects and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and confidentiality requirements.

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
· 5+ years of relevant experience
· Experience with financial accounting systems; NetSuite experience is preferred.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
· Highly organized and able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
