Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description

This role supports a ground-mount, utility-scale solar installation project in Peridot, AZ for approximately six weeks. You will focus on commercial and utility-scale electrical installations, including switchgear installation, conduit and raceway work, wire pulls, terminations, and commissioning support. The project involves installation of 480/277V, 1000A switchgear and associated electrical infrastructure, with no live electrical work required. You will apply your experience with large commercial electrical systems and your ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and technical documentation to ensure safe, high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and terminate electrical systems for a utility-scale solar project in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to plan and execute installation work accurately.
  • Install and connect 480/277V commercial electrical distribution equipment, including switchgear, panelboards, disconnects, and related components.
  • Install conduit systems, cable trays, supports, and electrical raceways to support the project’s electrical infrastructure.
  • Pull, route, and terminate conductors according to project requirements, ensuring proper identification, routing, and connections.
  • Perform equipment setting, alignment, and electrical terminations to meet design and performance standards.
  • Verify that all work meets NEC requirements, project specifications, and quality standards, and document work as required.
  • Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities to support startup and performance verification of electrical systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all site and company safety requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate daily activities with foremen, superintendents, and other trades to ensure efficient project execution and minimize rework.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical construction, preferably in commercial or utility-scale environments.
  • Proven experience with large commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience installing 480/277V electrical systems and associated distribution equipment.
  • Proficiency in switchgear installation, terminations, and related electrical infrastructure work.
  • Experience providing commissioning and startup support for electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of NEC requirements and standard electrical construction practices.
  • Capability to work safely in an outdoor construction environment while adhering to all safety policies and PPE requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in solar, construction, or general labor work on large-scale projects.
  • Experience with utility-scale solar installations or renewable energy projects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple trades and site supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Reliable work ethic and willingness to support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.

Work Environment

You will work around utility-scale solar equipment, commercial electrical distribution systems, and standard construction tools and materials, collaborating closely with field teams in a structured, safety-conscious setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Peridot, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.31 - $46.31/hr.
