Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector

Job Description

This role focuses on performing incoming, in‑process, and final inspections on components and assemblies to ensure they meet all technical and quality requirements. You will verify product conformance using precision measurement tools, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and document nonconformances while supporting root‑cause investigations and continuous improvement of quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections on mechanical and electronic components and assemblies.
  • Verify product conformance using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, oscilloscopes, and microscopes.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, statements of work (SOW), source control documents (SCD), and technical data packages.
  • Process daily visual inspections and maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Process materials and related documents in accordance with military specifications, SOW, or SCD requirements.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing materials between vendors and customers, ensuring proper documentation and traceability.
  • Process inventory transactions related to inspected materials and assemblies.
  • Support program managers through effective operation of QA/QC systems and timely communication of quality status.
  • Apply current QA/QC standards and procedures to all inspection and documentation activities.
  • Generate repair orders for outside services such as DPA, X‑ray, and re‑life testing when required.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of manufacturer data, certificates, and test reports to verify compliance.
  • Document issues and nonconformances clearly and provide feedback or formal reports to suppliers.
  • Practice proper ESD controls and safe handling of small electronic devices during inspection.
  • Contribute to root‑cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, including GD&T, and standard inspection methodologies.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, oscilloscopes, and microscopes.
  • Experience performing inspections using a microscope with good manual dexterity and high attention to detail.
  • Experience handling small electronic devices while consistently practicing ESD controls.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems and their practical application in a QA/QC environment.
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and write clear, concise inspection reports.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with program managers, suppliers, and internal teams on quality issues.
  • Solid organizational skills to manage multiple inspections, materials, and documentation workflows in a structured manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, and quality inspection in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with microscope inspection and visual inspection of small components.
  • Comfort working with technical data packages, manufacturer data, and test reports.
  • Ability to interpret and apply military specifications, statements of work, and source control documents.
  • Experience generating and processing repair orders for external test and analysis services.
  • Ability to support QA/QC system operation and contribute to continuous improvement of quality processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
