Survey CAD Technician
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join their team in a full-time, on-site capacity in Austin, Texas. The Survey CAD Technician will support the field-to-finish survey process and contribute to a variety of commercial, land development, and engineering projects.
This position will work closely with survey crews, engineers, and project managers to prepare accurate survey information, perform survey computations, and develop high-quality technical drawings and construction documents.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and interested in long-term growth within surveying and engineering, with potential advancement into Project Management and SIT/RPLS career pathways.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate maps, plans, and information for field survey crews based on project scope and requirements.
Conduct property research and review deeds, plats, title commitments, and other survey-related documents.
Assist with field crew preparation and provide necessary information for field operations.
Perform survey computations and assist with processing field data.
Utilize survey line coding techniques to improve drafting efficiency.
Prepare 2D and 3D drawings, models, technical plans, and construction documents.
Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D for survey drafting, design, and project documentation.
Utilize Trimble Business Center for survey data processing and analysis when applicable.
Process and incorporate data obtained from aerial and terrestrial LiDAR technologies.
Work collaboratively with survey crews, engineers, project managers, and other team members.
Maintain clear communication with internal teams and project stakeholders.
Ensure survey deliverables are accurate, organized, and completed according to project requirements and deadlines.
Support multiple commercial, development, boundary survey, as-built, and site development projects.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD experience in land surveying and/or engineering.
Experience with land surveying drafting and documentation.
Ability to interpret deeds, plats, title commitments, and other survey documentation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work effectively with field crews and engineering/project management teams.
Ability to work on-site in the Dallas, TX area.
Flexibility to work outside standard weekday hours when required to meet project deadlines.
Experience with Civil 3D.
Experience with Trimble Business Center.
Familiarity with LiDAR, including aerial or terrestrial scanning.
Experience with survey line coding.
Experience supporting boundary surveys, as-built surveys, and site development projects.
Interest in progressing toward SIT (Surveyor-in-Training) and/or RPLS (Registered Professional Land Surveyor) credentials.
