Project Accountant
Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Partner with project managers and local leadership to monitor budgets, staffing plans, and overall project financial health, helping ensure work remains aligned with contractual fees.
• Manage day-to-day accounting activities tied to projects, including timesheet and expense review, client billing, payment follow-up, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and journal entry preparation.
• Produce recurring monthly reports on financial and operational performance, while also delivering variance reviews and targeted analysis to support leadership decisions.
• Contribute to annual financial planning efforts by assisting with operational budgeting and related forecasting activities.
• Prepare and submit required local filings, such as business license applications, sales and use tax returns, and occupancy tax documentation when applicable.
• Support corporate accounting requests by compiling documentation, reconciling information, and meeting firmwide reporting deadlines.
• Coordinate with colleagues in other offices when projects involve multiple locations, helping maintain consistent financial tracking and communication across teams.
• Provide guidance to project teams on financial processes, reporting expectations, and budget-related practices to improve project accountability.
• At least 3 years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or a closely related finance role.
• Prior experience in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industry
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Deltek platforms, including Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint, along with strong overall accounting systems knowledge.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to work effectively in Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
• A collaborative, hands-on work style with the flexibility to adapt quickly as project needs shift.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
