CDL B / DOT Vacuum Truck Operator

Location: Birmingham, AL Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Vacuum Truck Operator / DOT Driver for an industrial services company in Birmingham, AL.

A CDL is NOT required for this position. Candidates may qualify with a CDL Class A, CDL Class B, or as a non-CDL DOT driver. However, you must be able to drive a manual transmission.

This is a hands-on position that combines driving with industrial field work. Operators will assist with wet/dry vacuum trucks, hydro excavation equipment, industrial cleaning, environmental services, and municipal maintenance projects.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive company trucks and equipment to and from job sites
  • Operate manual transmission vehicles
  • Set up and operate wet/dry vacuum and hydro excavation equipment
  • Connect, move, and handle vacuum hoses, pumps, and related equipment
  • Complete required DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Assist with industrial cleaning and material/waste removal
  • Transport materials to approved disposal locations as required
  • Work alongside field technicians and supervisors
  • Follow all company, DOT, and job-site safety procedures
  • Perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Requirements
  • Must have experience driving manual transmission vehicles
  • CDL Class A, CDL Class B, OR non-CDL DOT driving experience accepted
  • CDL drivers with Tanker Endorsement are preferred for applicable equipment
  • Previous vacuum truck, sewer flusher, hydro excavation, industrial service, or similar equipment experience is preferred
  • Ability to obtain/pass required DOT physical and screening
  • Clean and acceptable MVR
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb in/out of trucks and equipment
  • Comfortable performing hands-on labor in addition to driving
  • Willing to travel to regional job sites and work overtime or on-call shifts when needed

This is not a driving-only position. Candidates should be comfortable working in the field and assisting with the physical operation of the equipment.
