Desktop Support Technician
Pay Range
$22 – $28 per hour ($46,000 – $58,000 per year)
Summary
Entry-level on-site position providing day-to-day technical support to users. This role is designed for someone with basic computer knowledge and a strong interest in learning. Training will be provided on company systems and processes. The position may also include supporting some non-IT tasks and playing an active part in the overall operation and its success.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide desktop support including passwords, printers, Microsoft 365, and email issues
• Set up new computers and assist with hardware troubleshooting and repairs
• Set up and manage user accounts and permissions
• Help users with basic connectivity, peripheral, and network issues
• Update and maintain computer inventory and equipment records
• Assist with equipment moves, simple installations, and basic upgrades
• Resolve common hardware and network connectivity problems
• Coordinate with vendors when needed to resolve technical issues
• Support basic security practices and help prevent unapproved access
• Assist with testing and deployment of new applications or systems under guidance
• Provide basic training and guidance to staff on hardware and software usage
• Learn and eventually support additional company systems
• Support non-IT operational tasks as needed to contribute to the success of the operation
• Maintain clear records of support requests and resolutions
• Occasional travel to other company locations may be required (rare, and may include overnight stays)
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
• Basic understanding of Windows computers and common software
• Personal interest in technology and willingness to learn
• Strong customer service attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and document work clearly
• Reliable and able to work on-site full time
• No formal IT experience required — training will be provided
• Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations change
• Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
Education & Certifications
• Education is a plus
• Relevant certifications are a plus, including:
• CompTIA A+
• CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+)
• Google IT Support Certificate
• Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
• ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)
• Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate
• Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
• CompTIA Security+
• Any basic hardware or networking certificates
Preferred
• Any prior hands-on computer or technical experience (personal or work)
• Comfortable working in a busy operational environment
