Automotive Technician Automotive Mechanic

Sumter Tire & Auto is looking for an experienced and motivated automotive mechanic. We offer competitive pay, holiday and vacation pay, retirement plans and a great work environment. Work hours are Monday-Friday 8-5 and Some Saturdays 8-12.

Qualified applicants will have the following:

• 5+ years proven experience as an automotive mechanic working in a shop.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles.
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
• Ability to handle various tools and equipment (e.g. Hunter Alignment Machine, A/C Recovery Machine, Snap on Zeus / Ethos edge diagnostic tools).
• Must be experienced in Engine & Transmission replacements.
• Must be experienced and efficient in electrical and engine diagnostics. Must be able to use diagnostic tools on a daily basis in conjunction with Identifix and Pro Demand software.
• Alignment experience using a Hunter alignment machine is a plus.
• Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
• High school diploma is a plus; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a plus.
• Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a plus

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Mechanics must be well versed in all areas of auto repair including but not limited to diagnostics, computer, emissions, electrical, front end, alignment, suspension, brakes, and AC

• Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
• Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
• Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.
• Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues.
• Keep logs on work and issues.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
