Working Production Manager- Landscape Design Build
Job Description
The Working Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution, communication, coordination, and operational readiness of assigned production routes within the Design-Build Division.
Primary Objective: Ensure assigned crews have the information, materials, leadership, support, and operational clarity required to execute projects efficiently, safely, and professionally.
Core Areas of Ownership & Responsibilities
1. Route Ownership & Production Oversight
- Support assigned crews daily
- Maintain visibility into active work
- Monitor production momentum and schedule adherence
- Identify operational bottlenecks proactively
- Support route efficiency and labor coordination
- Adjust short-term schedules as needed
- Provide field leadership and operational problem solving
2. Crew Support & Field Leadership
- Conduct daily site visits/check-ins
- Support Crew Leaders with field decisions
- Assist with operational problem solving
- Support safety and accountability standards
- Coach and develop Crew Leaders
- Support training and leadership development
- Float between assigned crews and assist strategically
3. Production Readiness & Short-Term Planning
- Review upcoming projects proactively
- Identify missing information before production begins
- Coordinate with Division Manager regarding purchasing and readiness
- Verify jobs are operationally ready
- Ensure operations notes and job information are accurate
- Identify production risks and constraints early
- Support route sequencing and production flow
4. Client Communication & Coordination
- Send 1-week client notifications
- Send 24-hour production notifications
- Provide weekly updates on large projects
- Communicate production progress and schedule updates
- Coordinate directly with Sales regarding active projects
- Escalate major concerns appropriately
5. Operational Communication & Reporting
- Ensure crews complete required reporting
- Review daily 4@4 updates
- Communicate production concerns proactively
- Update Slack channels appropriately
- Maintain operational communication flow
- Support clean Aspire workflows
6. Schedule & Labor Coordination
- Adjust daily schedules as needed
- Reallocate labor between assigned crews
- Call operational audibles in the field
- Coordinate with Division Manager regarding larger schedule impacts
- Support weather and emergency adjustments
7. Purchasing & Material Coordination
- Verify materials are prepared ahead of production
- Coordinate with Division Manager regarding procurement needs
- Identify missing materials proactively
- Support material staging and readiness
- Handle approved emergency purchasing
Success Measures (KPIs)
- Production & Route Performance: Schedule adherence, route efficiency, production momentum, and reduction in downtime
- Crew Support & Leadership: Crew support effectiveness, Crew Leader development, and communication responsiveness
- Production Readiness: Material readiness success, reduction in operational surprises, and reduction in emergency purchasing
