Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Conventional/Inside Machinist to join a well-established industrial services company with over 40 years in business, specializing in large-scale heat and cooling systems including boilers, chillers, and rotating equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist looking for long-term growth within a collaborative, team-oriented environment with minimal micromanagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, and grinders to repair and fabricate industrial components
• Perform precision machining on parts used in boilers, chillers, valves, and other industrial systems
• Support repair work for clients in refineries, paper mills, and oil & gas industries
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
• Conduct equipment setup, precision measurements, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures for manual and older equipment
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to production planning and shop efficiency
• Work independently while collaborating within a flat-structured team environment

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in manual/conventional machining (Conventional Machinist, Inside Machinist, Journeyman, or Tool & Die)
• Strong hands-on experience with manual lathes, mills, and shop equipment
• Background in industrial environments such as machine shops, refineries, shipyards, or heavy manufacturing
• Ability to read blueprints and perform precision measurements
• Comfortable working with older equipment and hands-on repair work
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills:

• Heavy industrial or rotating equipment companies
• Boiler, chiller, or industrial HVAC systems
• Shipyards (Newport News Shipyard experience a plus)
• Heavy manufacturing environments
• Electric motor or mechanical repair shops
