Senior Cost Accountant

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Cost Accountant / Accountant Analyst with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, ERP systems, and month-end close. The ideal candidate will partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze product costs, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Perform month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory analysis, and variance reporting.
• Maintain standard costs, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and overhead rates.
• Analyze material, labor, overhead, scrap, and rework costs to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare financial and operational reports to support business decisions.
• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to explain cost variances and improve financial performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturing cost planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Contribute to process improvements, inventory initiatives, and cross-functional projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 6+ years of accounting experience, including manufacturing or cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, standard costing, inventory valuation, COGS, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and leadership teams.
