Medical Scribe for Outpatient Clinic – No Medical Assistant Certificate Required
Joining Arizona Community Physicians (ACP) as a medical scribe offers the unique opportunity to work for Arizona's largest independent, physician-owned medical group focused on long-term patient relationships.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, energetic Medical Scribe to join our outpatient clinic located on the south side of Tucson. In this role, you will act as the primary documentation assistant to our healthcare providers during patient encounters and support daily administrative operations. No prior Medical Assistant (MA) certification is required. We provide on-the-job training for workflow navigation and electronic health record (EHR) utilization. This is an ideal position for pre-med, pre-PA, or nursing students seeking robust, direct clinical exposure. ACP uses Epic as our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Job Summary - Primary Duties will focus on medical scribing and documentation. The medical scribe supports the provider and documents patient visits accurately so the provider can focus on patient care instead of typing.
- Accompany the healthcare provider into patient exam rooms to accurately record all aspects of the clinical encounter in real-time within the EHR.
- Document history of present illness, chief complaints, physical exams, and assessment/plan details as dictated by the provider.
- Populate templates for laboratory orders, diagnostic imaging, and prescription refills for the provider’s review and final signature.
- Ensure all charts are completed accurately and ready for provider sign-off by the end of the shift.
- Other administrative duties as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Experience: No previous medical experience required; prior experience in customer service.
- Skills:
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy.
- Strong grammar, spelling, and written communication skills required.
- High level of comfort learning complex software systems and working with technology.
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology is a plus, but a strong willingness to learn is required.
- Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor suitable for patient interaction.
- Legal/Regulatory: Must be able to pass a background check and comply fully with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
