Job Description

Contract Dance Instructor (Part-Time / 7-Week Sessions)

Organization: Renzi Education and Art Center

Position Type: Independent Contractor (W-9)

Schedule: Begins the week of Aug 17 | Flexible Monday – Thursday | 3:45 PM – 5:45 PM

Term: 7-week instructional blocks with seasonal breaks.

Position Overview

The Renzi Education and Art Center seeks a creative and structured Dance Instructor to facilitate our upcoming 7-week youth performing arts session. Guiding an intimate cohort of students, you will introduce foundational dance technique, movement fundamentals, and basic choreography in a supportive, creative environment.

Our classes are intentionally kept small—typically capped at 4 to 5 students per instructor—allowing you to provide high-quality, individualized mentorship without the burden of large-scale classroom management. Renzi provides dedicated studio space, sound equipment, and auxiliary classroom supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Dance & Movement: Guide small groups of students through technique, rhythm exercises, and age-appropriate choreography (incorporating genres such as Jazz, Ballet, Modern, or Hip-Hop), adapting lessons to fit the pace of the room.
  • Mentor Small Cohorts: Provide direct, individualized artistic and technical support to a micro-class of max 5 students, building student confidence and creative expression.
  • Studio & Equipment Management: Ensure the dance space is safe and clean, and that sound systems, props, and instructional materials are organized and properly stored at the end of each session.
  • Professional Alignment: Arrive punctually at 3:45 PM for room setup, and maintain brief, routine communication with the Program Director regarding student milestones or showcase preparations.

Refined Qualifications

Given the artistic nature of our performing arts program and our compensation structure, this role is ideally suited for dance/performing arts students, local choreographers, or youth arts educators with a passion for dance education.

  • Artistic Familiarity: Strong foundation in dance technique across one or more genres (e.g., Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, or Hip-Hop) and experience creating beginner-friendly choreography.
  • Instructional Capability: Ability to guide youth through multi-step movement combinations and routines, troubleshooting rhythm and posture with patience.
  • Organizational Skills: Meticulous attention to student safety and studio environment management.
  • Reliability: Punctuality for the 3:45 PM arrival time.
  • Background Screening: Must successfully pass a standard criminal background check prior to the contract start date.
  • Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary
  • Benefits: Flexible schedule
  • Work Location: In person
