About the Role
Our client, an aerospace manufacturing company based in Norwalk, CA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on role supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and cost accounting activities within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and production teams, and eager to build their accounting career in a hands-on, regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support standard cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation and variance analysis
- Assist with preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Support job costing and work-in-process (WIP) reconciliations tied to production activity
- Help maintain internal controls and accounting procedures in line with manufacturing best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and FP&A teams
- Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules
- Support ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–4 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or aerospace/defense environment
- Working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes; exposure to cost accounting or inventory accounting a plus
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP); experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Deltek Costpoint preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
