Network & System Engineer
Job Description
This position is based in Duluth, GA. Our team is hybrid, with the expectation of visiting the office a few times per month.
The Networking & Systems Engineer designs, implements, secures, maintains, and troubleshoots enterprise servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and network infrastructure. This role serves as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, performance, hardware, security, and connectivity issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Design, deploy, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and network infrastructure.
· Administer physical and virtual server environments, including Dell/HPE/Lenovo servers, RAID, firmware, iDRAC/iLO, VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix.
· Manage enterprise SAN/NAS/DAS storage, including provisioning, LUNs, datastores, snapshots, replication, capacity, performance, and lifecycle management.
· Administer Veeam or equivalent backup and disaster recovery systems, including backup, replication, restores, and recovery testing.
· Configure and troubleshoot enterprise networks, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, NAT, DNS/DHCP, and network monitoring.
· Work with technologies such as Fortinet, SonicWall, PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Wireshark, and equivalent platforms.
· Troubleshoot hardware, storage, virtualization, network, and connectivity issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
· Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, availability, logs, and alerts.
· Plan and execute hardware refreshes, migrations, upgrades, data center projects, and infrastructure improvements.
· Perform data center activities including rack-and-stack, cabling, hardware replacement, labeling, and diagnostics.
· Maintain accurate infrastructure inventories, configurations, diagrams, standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
· Evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities to standardize, automate, improve performance, and reduce operational risk.
· Coordinate with vendors and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
· Participate in on-call support and occasional travel to customers, or data center locations.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)
• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education, advanced certifications, training, and experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in enterprise networking and systems administration, preferably in a large or complex enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated senior-level experience administering Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualization, VDI, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience with enterprise backup and recovery technologies, including Veeam or an equivalent enterprise backup platform.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware and software across diverse enterprise environments.
• Experience with identity and access management, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, identity governance, least-privilege access, service principals, managed identities, and cloud infrastructure access management is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or database infrastructure is preferred.
• Strong customer service, analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
