Job Description
We are seeking a dual-role professional to join our team as an Optician and Optometry Technician. While a formal optician license is not required, prior experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is mandatory. The ideal candidate can seamlessly transition between styling patients in the optical area and preparing them for their exams by running essential pretesting equipment prior to seeing the doctor.

- Assist patients with frame selection, styling, and lens options based on their prescriptions.
- Take accurate optical measurements (PD, segment height) and adjust/repair eyewear.
- Process vision insurance claims (VSP and EyeMed) and explain benefits to patients.
- Order lenses and frames, verify incoming orders via lensometry, and manage inventory.
- Provide backup support for the front desk, including scheduling and patient check-in.
Required Qualifications
- Optometry/Optical Setting Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years (Required).
- Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic pretesting equipment.
- Strong knowledge of optical lens types, materials, and coatings.
- Familiarity with vision insurance verification and billing practices (VSP and EyeMed).
- Excellent customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a patient-facing clinical and retail optical environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
