Experienced Tow Truck Driver
Full-Time | On-Site | Hightstown, NJ
We're looking for an experienced, motivated, and dependable Tow Truck Driver to join our team full-time.
Lawton’s Service Company / LSC Mechanical
We are an established towing, recovery, and automotive repair business serving Hightstown and the surrounding area for more than 25 years. We handle everything from everyday roadside assistance and vehicle towing to recovery work, while our affiliated repair shop provides automotive service and mechanical repairs.
We already have a great weekend tower on our team who has demonstrated what this position can become. He doesn't just answer calls—he knows how to recognize opportunities, visit our contracted commercial properties, and actively generate towing business. We're looking for someone with that same mindset who can take on tow jobs during the week.
Responsibilities
- Respond to towing, roadside assistance, and recovery calls.
- Safely operate tow trucks and properly secure and transport vehicles.
- Perform basic roadside services such as jump starts, lockouts, and tire changes.
- Conduct authorized tows and vehicle recoveries.
- Regularly check our contracted commercial properties for legitimate towing opportunities.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with property managers and businesses.
- Complete required paperwork, photos, authorizations, and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with customers, businesses, and management.
- Look for new opportunities to generate towing business.
- Assist our automotive repair shop and team members when needed.
Qualifications
- Professional towing experience required
- Experience with flatbeds and/or wheel-lift trucks
- Safe and responsible driving habits
- Must hold the proper license to operate a tow truck in the state
- Has a clean driving record and can exhibit safe driving skills
- Strong knowledge of towing and vehicle securement
- Maintain excellent records of calls responded to
- Write and present invoices to clients in the field and accept payment as needed
- Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Professional and respectful with customers and businesses
- Self-motivated and willing to actively seek out business
- Comfortable developing relationships with commercial customers
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, holidays, or after-hours calls as needed

Note: Payment is set at an hourly rate per shift plus a set rate per tow . Starting rates will be contingent on experience and skill level with opportunities to increase based on performance.
