Accounting Assistant
Job Description
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant with hands-on general ledger experience to join our team on a part-time basis. This role will play an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, completing reconciliations, and supporting month-end accounting processes.
The ideal candidate has previous experience working directly with a general ledger and understands how day-to-day transactions flow into accurate financial reporting. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining organized and accurate financial records.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries and ensure transactions are properly recorded
- Complete account and balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
- Process and review accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions
- Manage credit card transactions, reconciliations, and reporting
- Review financial records for accuracy, completeness, and proper account coding
- Assist with payroll processing as needed, serving as backup support
- Support benefits administration and related documentation
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Previous hands-on general ledger accounting experience required
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Working knowledge of AP and AR processes
- Familiarity with credit card processing and reconciliations
- Basic understanding of payroll and benefits administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet accounting deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a team
Pay: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule
- Part-time
- Monday and Friday 8:00 Am - 4:30 PM
- Optional additional hours on Wednesdays
