A leading industrial manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability & Automation Manager to lead the site's electrical, automation, controls, and reliability functions.

This newly created leadership role is designed for an engineering professional who combines strong electrical and automation expertise with proven experience leading technical teams in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will drive reliability improvements, support digital transformation initiatives, and provide technical leadership to automation, controls, and reliability personnel.

This is not a hands-on troubleshooting position. Instead, we're looking for a leader who can develop people, guide technical decision-making, drive continuous improvement, and establish credibility with highly skilled engineers and technicians.


What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Reliability Engineers, Automation Technicians, Controls Specialists, and Maintenance professionals.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a technical resource and mentor for electrical and automation teams.
  • Drive employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.

Electrical, Controls & Automation Leadership

  • Provide oversight for industrial electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, drives, and control systems.
  • Lead automation initiatives that improve safety, productivity, and equipment performance.
  • Establish best practices and standards for automation and controls systems.
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to support troubleshooting and long-term improvements.

Reliability Excellence

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) initiatives.
  • Drive defect elimination efforts focused on reducing recurring failures and improving asset performance.
  • Identify and address equipment "bad actors" through data-driven reliability strategies.
  • Improve equipment uptime, asset utilization, and maintenance effectiveness.

Asset Management & Maintenance Systems

  • Support and optimize CMMS and asset management systems.
  • Improve asset master data, spare parts management, and maintenance workflows.
  • Develop KPI dashboards and performance metrics to drive decision making.
  • Enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation

  • Partner with engineering, operations, and digital teams to implement advanced technologies.
  • Support predictive analytics, machine learning, and automation initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on operational excellence and manufacturing performance.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience within industrial manufacturing, maintenance, reliability, automation, or engineering leadership roles.
  • Experience managing technical, engineering, maintenance, or automation teams.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems
    • Automation and controls
    • PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • FMEA
    • Reliability methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in metals, steel, chemicals, paper, mining, building materials, power generation, or other heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Experience implementing or managing CMMS/EAM systems.
  • CMRP, CRL, or similar reliability certifications.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and condition-based monitoring.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $120,000 - $125,000
  • 12% Target Annual Bonus
  • 2x Bonus Multiplier Opportunity Based on Performance
