Job Description
Position Details:
o Location: Compton CA
o Schedule: Monday - Friday
o Time: 7AM - 3:30PM
o Pay Rate: $20.00/hour (with relevant experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and coordinate the scheduling, tracking, and movement of shipments and containers from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
- Monitor container status, availability, pickup schedules, and delivery timelines to support efficient daily operations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of shipments, containers, appointments, pickups, deliveries, and other transportation-related activity.
- Perform ongoing data entry and recordkeeping to ensure all shipment and container information is properly documented and easily accessible.
- Organize electronic files, reports, shipment records, and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Relay important shipment updates, scheduling changes, delays, and other operational information to the appropriate team members in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, customers, terminals, and other parties regarding shipment and container status.
- Track and follow up on pending shipments and containers to ensure deadlines and scheduled appointments are met.
- Identify potential delays, scheduling conflicts, or discrepancies and promptly communicate issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Verify shipment and container information for accuracy and make necessary updates to internal tracking systems and reports.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, and other operational reports as required.
- Maintain organized and accurate records while handling a high volume of information in a fast-paced work environment.
- Prioritize multiple assignments and follow up on outstanding items to ensure operational needs are completed within established deadlines.
- Work closely with the operations and transportation teams to support the efficient flow of information and daily shipment activity.
- Maintain professional communication and confidentiality when handling company, customer, and shipment information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of port terminal operations, systems, and procedures.
- Ability to navigate terminal websites and systems to obtain and update container information.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with operations, transportation, and administrative teams.
