Banking Operations- New Accounts Representative
Pay Rate: $36/hr W2
Location: Brea, CA
Duration: 3 Months with Possible Extension
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced New Accounts Representative to support branch operations and provide exceptional service to consumer and business customers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with new account opening, teller transactions, customer service, account maintenance, and banking compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and service checking, savings, IRA, CD, and other consumer and business accounts.
- Interview customers, verify identification, gather required documentation, and complete account-opening procedures.
- Process account changes, supersedes, transfers, and other account maintenance requests.
- Process teller transactions, including over-the-counter, night drop, courier, and mail transactions.
- Operate a cash drawer and accurately handle cash, checks, and negotiable instruments.
- Answer customer questions regarding rates, fees, products, services, and bank policies.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues and transaction discrepancies.
- Identify customer needs and cross-sell appropriate banking products and services.
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly reports and branch audit certifications (ICRP).
- Provide guidance and training support to branch service staff.
- Follow dual-control, security, operational, and compliance procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, files, scans, reports, and customer information.
- Work closely with branch management and other teams to resolve complex customer and operational issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of new accounts experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in banking, financial institution operations, sales, or customer service.
- Strong knowledge of new account documentation, including fiduciary and corporate accounts.
- Knowledge of retail and commercial banking products, services, and branch operations.
- Understanding of applicable state and federal banking regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience with teller operations, cash handling, account opening, and account servicing.
- Strong computer, typing, data-entry, and account-processing skills.
- Basic math skills, including balancing accounts and accurately handling currency and negotiable instruments.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle difficult or complex customer issues with professionalism.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
Education
Associate's degree in Business or equivalent experience preferred.
