A Mobile Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in various locations while ensuring accuracy, patient safety, and proper documentation. This role demands independence, strong communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail to maintain high standards of specimen collection and handling. The phlebotomist will utilize both paper and electronic health records to document and manage patient information effectively.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens accurately and safely from patients in diverse locations
- Interact professionally and compassionately with patients to ease concerns
- Label samples correctly to maintain chain of custody and prevent errors
- Prepare and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies
- Manage inventory and replenish materials as needed
- Plan efficient travel routes to optimize daily specimen collection
- Document all collection activities using paper forms and electronic health records
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards
- Communicate clearly with healthcare teams and patients
Required Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Venipuncture and specimen collection skills
- Knowledge of infection control practices
- Strong patient communication abilities
